Rat Dissection App

The iPad lab is being used this week in Perry DelRossi's Biology classes to do an interactive rat dissection.  Normally the honors classes would just dissect live rats, but this year they are able to use the iPads and the rat dissection app to compliment their dissection lesson.  They are using the app as a resource with their live dissection.  Mr. DelRossi's other Biology classes are using the app to do the actual dissection.  He hopes that he can use the app in the future to take the place of the actual live rat dissection.  This not only utilizes technology, but it will result in saving the school district several thousands of dollars in the cost of the rats.

iPads in the English Classroom

Jamie Sabella used the iPad lab today with her English classes.  The 11th grade English classes were working on creating a fictitious facebook page for characters from the Great Gasby.  They were using a website called myfakewall.com.  The students used the iPads to access the website and create an account, to do research through Safari, and gathered pictures from various websites to place on their fake facebook site.  The students enjoyed using the iPads.  I though this was a great idea for a project.

iPad - First use in our school

Congratulations to Grady Wise who became our first high school teacher to use the iPad Lab with his/her class!!  We used the Access Library - School Edition app that is on all 30 iPads and will remain on them.  Special thanks to Cara Woudenberg who assisted during the class.  This is only the beginning - next up maybe you!  Research apps that you would like to use and let me know how we can bring this great technology into your classroom.
